ADVACRYL Polyglactin-910 Braided Coated Synthetic Absorbable Surgical Suture

Consistent performance for confidence in a variety of soft tissue approximation

ADVACRYL

ADVACRYL suture is braided synthetic absorbable sterile surgical suture composed of a copolymer made from 90% Glycolide and 10% L-lactide. Braided ADVACRYL suture is coated with a mixture composed of Poly (Glycolide-co-lactide) (Glacomer 37) and calcium stearate. The suture is colored violet to increase visibility and is also available undyed.

The advanced extrusion process of copolymer, the exclusive braiding process and coating system, gives ADVACRYL:

  • Excellent strength over the critical wound healing period

  • Tighter braided construction

  • Excellent handling

  • Excellent knot security

  • Minimize Swage Point Detachment1

  • Provides excellent support for a range of critical wound healing periods to secure closure in a variety of tissues, procedures and patients1

  • 34% knot pull tensile strength vs U.S.P limit ensures excellent support throughout the critical wound healing period

    OPTIMAL TENSILE STRENGTH
  • Knot pull tensile strength (KgF)2
  • - the confidence to suture with ease

Premium Needles for consistent Superior Performance
  • DURABLE COAT RETAINS SHARPNESS...PASS AFTER PASS
Maintains needle sharpness over the duration of procedure, resulting into consistent penetration pass after pass thus less potential for tissue trauma.
  • RIBBED BODY FOR SUPERIOR CONTROL
For superior grasping and stabilityof needle in needle forceps.
  • CHAMFERING MINIMUM SUTURE DETACHMENT
Diminishes chances for suture fracturing at the swage, by rounding off the sharp edges of the barrel in the swage area of the needle.
  • ELECTROPOLISHING SMOOTH & BRIGHT
Makes needle surface free from micro asperities, thus creates ultra sharp edges for lesser tissue drag.

Robust manufacturing process & superior primary aluminum packaging

ADVACRYL suture is a braided, synthetic absorbable sterile surgical suture composed of a copolymer made from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide, coated with a mixture composed of Poly (glycolide-co-lactide) (Glacomer 37) and calcium stearate. ADVACRYL suture is available in both dyed and undyed form.

ADVACRYL suture is indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic surgery, peripheral nerve anastomosis and micro surgery for vessels less than 2 mm diameter, but not for cardiovascular tissues.

ADVACRYL suture being an absorbable suture, should not be used where extended approximation of tissue under stress is required. The use of this suture is also contraindicated in patients with known sensitivities or allergies to Polyglactin 910.

The progressive loss of tensile strength and eventual absorption of ADVACRYL occurs by means of hydrolysis where the copolymer degrades to glycolic and lactic acids which are subsequently absorbed and metabolized in the body. Absorption begins as a loss of tensile strength followed by a loss of mass.

*Mass Absorption: Time in days required for suture to be totally absorbed in the body.
